Speech Pathology:
Speech Pathologists, previously Speech Therapists, now “Speechies” as we affectionately call them! Speechies use evidence-based assessments and therapies to assess, diagnose and treat communication disorders. We support children, adults and teenagers with difficulties with:
- Speech sound articulation, tongue-tie and thumb sucking.
- Early language and social development – playing and taking turns with others.
- Understanding and following directions.
- Putting sentences together to tell and write stories.
- Emotional regulation, social skills and executive function (planning, prioritising and making decisions).
- Literacy – reading and spelling.
- Voice – speaking and singing with good volume, without losing your voice or sounding croaky or raspy.
- Swallowing and speaking for adults in their legacy years with Parkinson’s Disease or similar difficulties.
Communication involves sending a message (expressive language) and understanding messages from others (receptive language). Communication breakdowns can result in frustration, loss of confidence, social withdrawal and behaviour difficulties. Let us help, here’s how it works.
